I'm trying to write some code that derives the Eastings and Northings (X, Y) from an IP address. The Geoplugin utility gives me the following information for my own IP Address as:
Town: Sutton (incorrect, it should be Croydon but never mind)
Latitude: 51.349998474121
Longitude: -0.20000000298023
When I plug these into gPoint I get:
Northing: 5692469, Easting: 694976
However according to this webpage:http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/image/epw001675 the correct values are:
Easting/Northing 525734, 163695
These values are totally different. Do I have to use a different ellipsoid for the UK? Or am I doing something else wrong?
My email is maf9222 at yahoo dot co dot uk.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
